How I spent my first morning of 2010… Well, myself A and T spent the morning attempting to manage a leaky water heater in T’s mom’s condo… the condo had not been used for many months so everything in the condo was either beginning to fall apart or rusting. It was actually a nice place, but Florida humidity is unkind to hair and homes alike. Anyway, in the picture A is constructing a Macgyver-like contraption with band aids and pipes to re route water from the ever flowing leaky pipe, meanwhile T (in the background) and I tag teamed holding solo cups under the leak and dumping into the sink. The maintenance guy finally arrive a few minutes later and we eventually made it to a late, but very yummy first breakfast of 2010. It feels a little weird typing 2010..
My New Years Eve was pretty mellow, but fun. We spent most of our evening in Ybor City, in Tampa. I never new this neighborhood existed, but it was incredible! Ybor has a vibrant downtown made up of historic cigar factory buildings and beautiful bungalows. We rode the street car around for a while and mostly just people watched as the college crowds showed up dressed to the nines…and some barely dressed at all. At midnight, we watched a panoramic fireworks display from outside the city over Tampa Bay, then headed back to spy on the mysterious giant fish under a bridge in Tarpon Springs…, all in all it was a pretty good start to the new year!
